First thing’s first… or not.

I feel like a “Hey I got a tumblr! WHOA!” post is not only necessary but almost sacred to a successful blogthingymajig.  And I failed to do so. So here it is:

Hey I got a tumblr! WHOA!

Welcome to my cyber home… it’s clearly nothing fancy… but you should sit down and stay awhile.

Also, I’m somewhat slightly OCD about certain things… Don’t get me wrong. I’m completely unorganized with hardly any sense of responsibility (I’m working on it).  But it will drive me nuts if I don’t provide some sort of logical explanation for my url. Or at least an attempt at a logical explanation.

Obviously, accio comes from Harry Potter.. The summoning spell. (and if it’s not obvious, we probably aren’t friends. Just kidding. But really.)

So okay if I walk you through this we basically have “come here war” or, as I like to think of it as, “bring it on war”.

Now I know that’s weird. I promise I’m not some freak who takes pleasure in violence (if you do, I’m not calling you a freak… Promise.)  But rather, I am speaking of a metaphorical war.

Between God and Satan.

Between myself and the world.

I am constantly preparing myself for the battles of life.  Battles against God’s expectations and the world’s expectations. Battles against self-image. Battles against peer pressure. Battles against lust. Battles against pride.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:11-17

So that’s what this.  Random blurps about my battle and my struggles and my relationship with the LORD.

Feel free to say something constructive, or even disagree with something.

I can’t be prepared without people to push me towards the prize.

Accio war.

Notes

It’s so weird to be a person.

We breathe. We eat. We sleep.  We gotta go to the bathroom. For a guy: 2 real specific ways… don’t get them mixed up. We gotta get up every morning. We waste gas.  We make relationships. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

It’s so easy for us to make a mistake.

A human would be quick to judge.

Yet the LORD still loves us.

We have trained ourselves to get through our daily routines, but how often do we live with the intent to be significant.

We have trained ourselves to do what’s “right”, but how often do we do something with the intention to make a positive impact on the world?

We have learned that we have to grow up and take responsibility. But how often do we think with the creativity and emanate the joy of a child?

Work becomes an essential part of our lives, but how often do we work towards something other than a paycheck?  And how often is that paycheck tithed, or spent on others, rather than wasted on ourselves?

We spend our lives simply trying to impress others.

We dwell on things that won’t matter in a week.

We are ignorant toward things that can affect not only ourselves, but others, for years.

We blog, hoping that someone might grasp one minuscule blurp of a coherent thought that might impact the way they view life.

It’s so weird to be a person.
